Strong growth for MMFA members in 2025 as SPC consolidates market leadership
Brussels, 17 March 2026 – In 2025, total sales of MMFA members across all categories (polymer and wood) surpassed the 100 million m² mark for the first time, reaching 103,539,445 m², an increase of 15% compared to 2024. While this signals positive momentum for the members of the association, the growth was primarily driven by some regional markets and should not be interpreted as a uniform upswing of the global flooring industry. Market conditions continued to vary considerably by regions. Following a year of stabilisation in 2024, the 2025 performance reflects regional demand drivers, particularly in polymer-based products, alongside ongoing structural consolidation within the multilayer modular flooring (MMF) segment.
Polymer growth accelerates as SPC reinforces its dominance
Total polymer sales amounted to 95,477,025 m² in 2025, marking a 16.36% increase year-on-year. The principal growth engine remains SPC, which reached 85,739,929 m² sold, a 26.64% increase compared to 2024. SPC now accounts for 83% of total MMFA sales, confirming its position as the dominant MMF product category.
This development goes beyond short-term market fluctuations. Since 2019, SPC’s market share has increased from 31% to 83%, showcasing a structural transformation of the market. Over the same period, the share of LVT click declined from 48% to 5% of total sales, while the share of wood products decreased from 14% to 8%. The 2025 data therefore reflects both annual growth and a long-term reshaping of product demand.
In 2025, performance across the remaining polymer segments remained under pressure. LVT click sales declined to 4,937,448 m², representing a 45.98% decrease compared to 2024, and now represent 5% of total sales. EPC recorded 4,799,467 m² sold, a 7.98% decrease compared to 2024, also corresponding to 5% market share. The continued expansion of SPC is further concentrating demand within this product category.
Regional developments in polymer category: strong US expansion and recovery in core European markets
For MMFA members, the United States maintained its position as their largest single market for the polymer products. In 2025, US sales rose sharply by 63.14%, reaching 28,514,597 m². This increase contributed materially to overall growth and reflects the importance of North America within the global MMF landscape.
Across Western Europe, polymer sales improved in several of the largest markets. France recorded 15.2 million m² (+9.15%), maintaining its position among the leading European markets in terms of volume. Germany reached approximately 13.2 million m² (+4.20%), pointing to a return to moderate growth. Belgium also expanded by 6.94% (2.5 million m²). Not all Western European markets moved in the same direction, however. Sales in Italy dropped by 5.75% (3.9 million m²) and in Great Britain by 11.54% (3.5 million m²), reflecting uneven construction dynamics across the region.
In Eastern Europe, several markets delivered solid growth, with Poland at 3.8 million m² sold (+12.56%), and Czech Republic at 2.0 million m² sold (+ 12.61%). These increases contributed positively to overall polymer performance in the region.
Outside Europe and North America, performance was more mixed. Asia recorded 2,876,501 m² in sales (-2.48%), marking a slight contraction compared to 2024. Africa also declined, with 189,586 m² sold (-26.46%), pointing to weaker demand in the region. Australia and Oceania showed moderate growth at 1,301,328 m² (+6.07%), while Latin America recorded the strongest expansion among these regions, reaching 888,733 m² (+15.05%).
Wood category stabilises in core markets
Germany and Austria continued to dominate the wood segment in 2025, together accounting for 83% of total wood sales. Germany remained the largest market with 5.3 million m² (-1.09%), while Austria recorded a significant increase of 35.97%, reaching 1.3 million m². Switzerland followed with 308,348 m² (-11.88%). At regional level, Western Europe remained the clear centre of gravity for wood products, with 7,458,470 m² sold (+2.30%). Eastern Europe recorded 348,426 m² (-28.28%), reflecting weaker market conditions overall. Within the region, the Czech Republic declined by 30.38%, reaching 202,105 m², illustrating the volatility in some Central and Eastern European markets.
Structural transformation of the MMF market
The 2025 figures confirm that the MMF market is undergoing continued structural transformation. Growth is increasingly concentrated in SPC, which has become the defining product category for MMFA members. At the same time, wood products show signs of stabilisation, while LVT and EPC continue to adjust within a rebalanced product mix.
The 15% overall increase in sales demonstrates that, despite ongoing pressures in the global construction sector, MMFA members have strengthened their market position through innovation, product performance and responsiveness to evolving customer preferences.
Although economic and geopolitical uncertainties persist, the 2025 performance demonstrates the resilience of MMFA members and provides a solid foundation for further progress.

About MMFA: The Multilayer Modular Flooring Association is an organisation representing the leading producers of flooring in Europe and their suppliers. Its purpose is to “keep flooring in the loop” by facilitating its journey towards a more sustainable, circular and innovative future. The MMFA was established in October 2012 in Munich, Germany, by seven European flooring producers. It is now managed out of Brussels, Belgium.
