MMFA pays tribute to industry leader Bernhard ter Hürne
Brussels, 2 October 2025 – We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Mr. Bernhard ter Hürne, CEO of company ter Hürne, a member of MMFA. He succumbed to an illness on 29 September. With his death, the flooring industry has lost an esteemed leader and entrepreneur.
For the last 31 years, Mr. ter Hürne was committed to the management of his family’s company. After taking over from his father Otger ter Hürne in 1994, he subsequently grew the business into a medium-sized manufacturer recognised internationally for its flooring and wall panelling products.
Mr. ter Hürne has made invaluable contributions to the success of his company and to the advancement of the flooring industry as a whole. His leadership was rooted in the core values of ter Hürne: a commitment to healthy living, an adherence to German quality in engineering and production, and a deep sense of ecological responsibility in the use of natural resources. These values continue to define the MMF industry.
Mr. ter Hürne was a dedicated entrepreneur committed to the success of the company and its employees, as well was a remarkable individual who inspired those around him. His open and honest manner was convincing and made him a widely respected conversational partner. He was consistently clear and decisive, which was greatly valued by all that worked with him. His presence was a valuable asset in every setting.
President of MMA, Jan Dossche, said: “Bernhard’s dedication left a lasting impression on all members of our association and the wider industry. We will remember him for his many contributions.”
The MMFA extends its heartfelt condolences to the ter Hürne family, friends, and colleagues.
